What happens when systems designed to keep us constantly moving suddenly come to a standstill? In Still In Motion, Lars de Vos explores the tension between innovation and stillness, between control and surrender, and asks what movement truly means.
About dance performance Still In Motion
In an underground metro station, the daily routine is abruptly interrupted. Timetables disappear, time loses its rigid structure, and waiting becomes a shared experience.
Forced into stillness, travellers search for new ways to relate to one another and to the space around them. Through bodies, play, and everyday materials such as newspapers, an unexpected dynamic emerges: frustration gives way to imagination, improvisation, and collectivity.
In this pilot performance, Lars places the human body at the centre of an infrastructure built on efficiency, speed, and progress. How resilient and inventive are we when the system falters?
Still In Motion is a dance-theatre performance about disruption, adaptability, and the fragile relationship between people and the systems that keep them moving.

About Simply Stories
Simply Stories Foundation is a multidisciplinary platform for talent development that creates space for diverse stories through cross-overs and stimulates social connection through art, culture, and heritage. The foundation has a strong base in hiphop dance and hiphop education and, as a young organisation, its first projects focus strongly on the artistic development of hiphop dance.
In doing so, the foundation embraces the hiphop credo “Each one, teach one”, where skills are passed on not only to successive generations but also intergenerationally, with understanding of and curiosity about the challenges and developments within each generation.
Dansdagen Haarlem is a collaboration with Stadsschouwburg Haarlem and is made possible in part by support from the Municipality of Haarlem and the Province of North Holland. The Circle Solo’s are made possible with support from the Province of North Holland, within the framework of the impulse “Emerging Makers”.
