XANUUN

What does it mean to leave your home behind and build a new life elsewhere? XANUUN (Somali for "pain") takes a hard-hitting look at power, heritage, and identity, bringing the pain and resilience of young migrants to the stage.
About XANUUN
Through an intense fusion of dance, music, and spoken word, this performance tells the stories of Somali youth who migrated to the United Kingdom via the Netherlands. Seeking safety, they encountered violence and exclusion – a battle fought both internally and physically, made visible through movement.
With a cast of five dynamic performers, XANUUN explores the impact of words and power. The performance is driven by the raw beats of Grime and Trap—music genres that embody the voice of the streets and resistance in British culture.
There is no spoken dialogue in this performance.
