Negen

Never before has the transition from order to chaos felt so relevant. Organised chaos, that is how our dance could be described. In NEGEN, the chaos that increasingly surrounds humanity becomes physically tangible. The number 9 represents both chaos and wholeness; a symbol of transformation, completion, enlightenment and compassion, of the fruits of the Holy Spirit, but also of obsession and apocalyptic tension.
About the dance performance NEGEN
Nine dancers carry out an exhausting, physical search for a new order. In nine scenes, a DJ on stage creates 4D audio and nine spatial light horizons, ranging from aesthetically alluring to powerfully deceptive, each one fading out—until, inevitably, the ultimate perspective emerges.
Recognisable movement patterns appear with nervous energy and unexpectedly dissolve, like unstable balances. With extreme contrasts. A baseline of unfocused energy, of struggle.
A beam of light. The new human. A futuristic dawn. Artificially intelligent, ordered hope. Is that what we are waiting for? What do we leave behind, what disappears with chaos? Is the new order better than our chaos, than confusion, compassion or a smile?
NEGEN is a choreography by Andrea Leine and Harijono Roebana for nine dancers and a DJ.
