With HEAR_ME, Remy Tilburg makes his choreographic debut, using a groundbreaking movement language to question and redefine the way we communicate.
About HEAR_ME
Imagine this: we leave behind our world full of invisible rules and step into a new one. A place where six dancers — one Deaf and five hearing — connect through a language without words, one that touches all our senses and reveals how different communication can be. In his first production as a choreographer, Remy Tilburg (known from So You Think You Can Dance) shows the importance of genuine connection. With HEAR_ME, he invites us to let go of performance pressure and fixed roles, and reconnect from a place of authenticity.
During this performance, THE_AND Music introduces the groundbreaking SoundShirt technology in the Netherlands for the first time. This shirt, equipped with 28 vibration sensors on the sleeves, chest, and back, translates music, animations, light, and choreography into tactile vibrations. As a result, not only the music but the entire choreography is physically experienced, making the performance accessible to deaf and hard-of-hearing audiences.
There is no spoken dialogue in this performance.
Accessible for deaf and hard-of-hearing audiences
Subwoofers will be used in the first two rows during the performance, allowing Deaf and hard-of-hearing visitors to experience the show through vibrations in the floor. If you'd like to make use of this, please email kaartverkoop@schuur.nl, and we’ll make sure you can purchase tickets for the best seats.
