Circustheater – Michael Zandl / Korzo

FOOD feestdagenspecial

Lees deze pagina in het Nederlands

This holiday season, FOOD invites you into a humorous, sometimes downright bizarre world of consumption. What begins as a simple dining scene escalates into a frenzied, almost mechanical ritual. The perfect ingredients for a festive evening: a delicious dinner, drinks, and the wordless performance FOOD.

About the Holiday Special FOOD

What begins as a simple dining scene evolves into a frenzied, almost mechanical ritual. Slowly, the boundaries between desire and necessity blur, until something grotesque, surprising, and disturbingly hypnotic emerges. Using acrobatics and object manipulation, these witty circus artists build, piece by piece, a confrontational language of the body. A language that turns not only their own, but perhaps also your ideas about consumption habits upside down, habits shaped by the silent pressure of commercial persuasion.

Michael Zandl developed this performance together with the performers of FOOD: Fidel Rott, Hedvig Brodén, Jakob Vöckler and Karin Brodén.

    Pzazz
  • “FOOD could be summed up very simply as a crescendo of chaos. Great fun and some ingenious moments.”

About Michael Zandl

Michael Zandl (1989) is an Austrian circus artist and has been a resident artist at Korzo since 2020. Michael is interested in transcending the conventional circus idiom. He enjoys working with everyday objects that, at first glance, you wouldn’t expect to see in the circus. Special effects and technical ingenuity are often the highlights of his performances. He uses various circus techniques to manipulate the objects so that they tell a story. Michael’s work is recognizable by this approach to storytelling, the use of specific scenes, and the language developed through the objects and materials he employs.
