After the success of the first two parts of their Indonesia trilogy in the Netherlands, Europe, and Indonesia, LeineRoebana now returns with a new installment. Together with the adventurous music ensemble Black Pencil, they present the third part: Farewell Future Welcome World.
About Farewell Future Welcome World
Together with Black Pencil, composer Iwan Gunawan, his ensemble Kyai Fatahillah, LeineRoebana, and Indonesian guest dancers, choreographers Andrea Leine and Harijono Roebana demonstrate how cultural identity is constantly evolving. They explore contrasts and connections between traditions to find shared roots of wonder and creativity. Farewell Future Welcome World weaves Indonesian and Dutch dance with gamelan, Western and Eastern sounds, offering a rich artistic and human adventure beyond cultural boundaries.
Audience Reception
Before the performance, LeineRoebana invites the audience to meet the dancers, musicians, and choreographers for a special introduction on stage: half an hour before the start, the doors open for the now much-loved audience reception. Unique experiences from the creative process and sources of inspiration are shared, and there is an opportunity to ask questions, while the dancers and musicians warm up and prepare for the performance. The show begins immediately following the audience reception.
