Following unforgettable productions such as Huis van Troje, In wankel evenwicht and Glengarry Glen Ross, Toneelschuur Producties, Internationaal Theater Amsterdam and the Schuur are joining forces once again for a new, exclusive ITA-2 co-production.
About ITA-2 Exclusief
In this new production, members of ITA’s ensemble take to the stage in the intimate setting of the Schuur, bringing together the strength of ITA’s ensemble and the closeness of the Schuur. ITA-2 is where established theatrical talent and new artistic energy come together.
The title and director will be announced soon, but one thing is certain: this will once again be a special theatrical experience, presented exclusively in Haarlem. A unique opportunity to experience ITA’s ensemble in a smaller venue, up close and personal, right in the heart of the action and the tension of the moment. The performance will be surtitled in Dutch and English.

Through ITA‑2 — the platform of Toneelschuur Producties and ITA for the development of directing talent — several productions have been presented since 2007. In these productions, a director from Toneelschuur Producties works together with ensemble members of Internationaal Theater Amsterdam. The multi-year partnership focuses on the gradual development of directing practice, with the alliance partners contributing their expertise and working within larger organisations at the centre of the programme. In the years to come, Toneelschuur Producties and ITA will continue to invest in directing talent: ITA‑2 as a breeding ground for the directors of the future.
Previous ITA‑2 productions included:
Britannicus (Jean Racine), Antigone-Kreon-Oidipous (an adaptation of Sophocles’ Theban tragedies) and Al mijn zonen (Arthur Miller), directed by Thibaud Delpeut; A Streetcar Named Desire (Tennessee Williams) and Glengarry Glen Ross (David Mamet), directed by Eric de Vroedt and Kat op een heet zinken dak (Tennessee Williams), directed by Jacob Derwig. Maren E. Bjørseth received widespread acclaim for Emilia Galotti (Gotthold Ephraim Lessing) and In wankel evenwicht (Edward Albee). Mateusz Staniak followed with Hamlet en Ophelia (Heiner Müller) and Huis van Troje (Euripides and Lesia Ukrainka). Most recently, Angelo Ormskerk premiered Medea voor een toeslagenherdenking (Euripides), as an International Ibsen Fellow affiliated with ITA, an initiative of the Philip Loubser Foundation.
