A young Jordanian widow fights for her inheritance rights in a deeply patriarchal society where having a son makes all the difference.

Nawal is thirty years old and recently widowed. After her husband's death she winds up in a legal battle with her overbearing brother-in-law Rifqi. According to Jordan's law, the in-laws may claim a large portion of the inheritance in case a woman has no son. Desperately struggling to keep her house and her life with her daughter, she spins a story in order to postpone the legal proceedings. Based on true events.
