Expat Cinema: Enzo

Enzo is a political and sensual coming-of-age film in which youth, desire, and class converge.

Contrary to his family's expectations, sixteen-year-old Enzo does not start university but instead begins training as a bricklayer. He is not very good at it, but feels more at home on the construction site than in the posh villa where he grew up. When his charismatic colleague Vlad introduces him to this other world, Enzo finds this life much more rewarding than that of his wealthy family. This increases tensions at home. Enzo feels increasing pressure to live up to his parents' expectations.

Enzo was the opening film of the Quinzaine des Cinéastes at the Cannes Film Festival and received four stars from The Guardian.
