Céline looks forward to the arrival of her first child. However, she is not pregnant herself; her wife Nadia will give birth to their daughter in three months. But in order to be legally recognized as the child’s mother, Céline must adopt her and prove that she deserves a place in her own daughter’s life.

In this process, she is asked to collect fifteen statements confirming that she will be a good mother. Under the watchful eye of friends, family, and the law, she searches for her place as a parent. Des preuves d’amour is a moving, but also light and humorous portrait of queer parenthood and the obstacles that come with it.

The film, based on the director Alice Douard’s own experiences, tells a deeply affecting story from the perspective of the non-pregnant partner in the final stage of pregnancy. It had its world premiere in the Semaine de la Critique at the Cannes Film Festival and was later shown at festivals including Film by the Sea and the Roze Filmdagen, where it won the Audience Award.
